The New York Cosmos today announced they will hold a series of free “Back to School” soccer clinics in the coming weeks. The five currently scheduled clinics are being coordinated with youth organizations in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Long Island and will be available to kids between the ages of six and 14 in the first weeks of September.
“The Cosmos are committed to grassroots soccer in New York,” Cosmos Chief Operating Officer Erik Stover said. “Providing local kids with the opportunity to learn from our coaches and players is just one of the many ways in which we can continue to give back to the community.”
Professional Coaches from the NY Cosmos Training and Development Program, along with several players from the New York Cosmos, will attend the clinics and work directly with the kids. Afterwards, the players will also be available to meet with the kids and sign autographs.
Every child attending the clinic will each receive a free Cosmos T-shirt and a free redeemable voucher for themselves and a chaperone for one of the Cosmos’ final four home matches of the NASL Fall Season.
In addition, parents that show either a Sept. 6, 2014 or Sept. 13, 2014 match ticket stub on-site at one of the clinics will receive automatic clinic entry for a child (one ticket stub per child).
Those interested in the clinics are encouraged to go to www.nycosmostdp.com to sign up for advance registration. Space is limited and is filling up fast.
