New York Liberty Sign Charde Houston

New York Liberty Head Coach and General Manager Bill Laimbeer announced on Monday that the team has signed free agent forward Charde Houston.

Houston, a six-year WNBA veteran, played for the Minnesota Lynx (2008-11) and Phoenix Mercury (2012-13).  She was voted a WNBA All-Star in 2009 and won a WNBA title with Minnesota in 2011. A 6-0 forward, Houston averaged 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for her career while playing 19.1 minutes per contest. Last season, Houston played in 34 games for the Mercury, averaging 5.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Charde was waived before training camp by the Seattle Storm, who acquired the forward in a March trade with the Phoenix Mercury.

New York returns to action at home at Madison Square Garden this Friday at 7:30 p.m. to face the Chicago Sky.
