The New York Cosmos Training & Development Program and the Race Track Chaplaincy of America announced today a partnership to provide youth soccer clinics for the Race Track Chaplaincy of America – New York Division (RTCANY).
The program will feature ten weekly sessions ranging from June 21 – August 23 for players age 6 – 12. These 60-minute soccer clinics are designed to introduce, improve, and master fundamental soccer skills for players of all ages. The July 12, August 2, and August 23 clinics will take place as part of Fan Fest at James M. Shuart Stadium at Hofstra University prior to New York Cosmos home games on those dates. The remaining sessions will take place at Belmont Park.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the Cosmos training and development to Belmont,” Cosmos Director of Training and Development Programs, John Fitzgerald, said. “The community has a strong connection to the game and we look forward to offering their talented youngsters a quality soccer experience.”
The RTCANY is a spiritual ministry that serves the needs of the New York Racing Association (NYRA) community, which comprises Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racetrack, and Saratoga Race Course. The Chaplain serves as the official minister to the unique NYRA community without regard to race, creed, religion, background or social status.
“These soccer clinics will offer an outstanding opportunity for the children of our community to have fun and develop new skills, through the high-quality training instruction the New York Cosmos will provide,” Rev. Humberto Chavez, Chaplain at New York Racing, said. “I look forward to seeing our kids out on the field each week enjoying the beautiful game of soccer.”
