The Long Island Ducks (27-22) remain in second place in the Liberty Division unable to gain ground against the first place Somerset Patriots (31-19) winning two out of four games at TD Bank Ballpark.
Long Island started the weekend off strong getting the doubleheader sweep on June 14, winning by the scores of 4-1 and 5-2. Sadly though the guys were not able to keep the momentum going losing on Sunday June 15 by a score of 6-4 and on Monday by a final of 5-4.
On June 16 Captain and Outfielder Lew Ford was named as the Atlantic League Player of the Week. In the six games he played Ford had a .450 batting average (9-20) to go along with two doubles, four homers, six RBIs and seven runs.
Some other impressive performances for the offensive side for the Ducks was Fehland Lentini who had eight hits and three runs during the series and Brendan Harris had seven hits and four RBIs.
Starter Shaun Garceau was able to pick up his sixth win of the victory in Game Two of the double header that was held on June 14, which leads all Atlantic League pitchers, while is tied for first place in strikeouts with teammate John Brownell who both have 53.
Ford, meanwhile. leads in all Atlantic League offensive categories as he sits first in average (.392), homers (11) and RBIs (47).
Long Island will continue the road trip with a four-game set against the Camden Riversharks before returning home to Bethpage Ballpark and host the Sugar Land Skeeters on Saturday June 21.
