Ducks Come Close but unable to Capture Series Finale against Lancaster

The Long Island Ducks (21-17) came very close in the ninth inning to getting a comeback victory, on this game though it was the Lancaster Barnstormers (24-17) claiming a 4-2 victory in Atlantic League of Professional Baseball action on Thursday night.

Lancaster First Baseman  Brock Kjeldgaard did most of the damage for the night, not only recording an RBI single in the top of the first inning. Kielgaard went deep for a three-run shot in the bottom of the third to account for all the damage done by the Barnstormers.

Long Island gave it their best shot at a comeback attempt as an RBI double by Adam Bailey cut the lead, but the Ducks were not able to add on any more, as Lancaster was able to earn the victory in the finale of the long homestand.

Bailey, who had three hits on the night for his third three-hit contest of the year. The second-year Ducks now has eight multi-hit game in 2014.

The Atlantic League Player of the Month of May Outfielder Lew Ford continued to swing a hot stick, with his two hits in the game the Captain moved into a tie with Puckett for the team lead in two-hits games with 10 this season. Ford now has a team-best 17 multi-hit games in 2014.

Ducks starter Fernando Hernandez (2-3) had another gutty outing, surrendering four runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts in six innings.
