The Long Island Ducks (18-15) dropped a very tough Game Two to the Somerset Patriots (22-13) by a final of 8-0 in Atlantic League of Professional Baseball action on Saturday night.
Prior to Game 2 the Atlantic League announced that Second Baseman Cody Puckett was named as player of the day for his three hit performance, that included a triple and driving in a run and scoring a run in the team’s 6-5 walk-off victory on Friday Night.
Long Island was not able to get a rally going against Somerset Patriots starter had a great game Gary Moran (2-2) pitching seven shutout innings, striking out three batters and only allowing three hits.
The Ducks ended the night recording four hits total, as Puckett, Adam Bailey, Jan Vazquez and Sergio Miranda all were able to connect during the course of the night.
Game Three between the two teams will take place on Sunday, June 1 with the first pitch set for 1:35 p.m. Getting the start for Long Island will be righty Jared Lansford looks for his second victory.
