The Long Island Ducks (16-13) dropped a tough Game 1 versus the Lancaster Barnstormers (19-13) in a 11-3 decision on Tuesday night.
Prior to the game the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball named Ducks Pitcher the Player of the Week for May 19-26. Garceau had two starts and a 2-0 record, pitched 16 innings, allowing eight hits while striking out 12 batters for the week.
Getting the start for Long Island was Jared Lansford (1-1), who struck out seven batters but also allowed six runs on six hits.
The Ducks offense battled but were not able to overcome the 11 runs scored by Lancaster. Leading the way with the sticks was Cody Puckett and Lew Ford who both were able to drive in runs during the course of the game.
Long Island will get another crack at Lancaster, who is currently in second place in the Freedom Divison on Wednesday, with first pitch slated for 7:00 p.m.
