Here are some notes as the New York Lizards (1-2) are on the road to take on the Ohio Machine (1-2) in Major League Lacrosse action on Saturday (5/17).
Draftee Joe Fletcher and Loyola Greyhounds upset in NCAA 1st round
The #3 seeded Loyola Greyhounds were upset by the Albany Great Danes last Saturday with a final score of 6-13. With Loyola officially eliminated from the tournament, draftee Joe Fletcher is now eligible to join the Lizards for the remainder of the 2014 season.
Draftee Alex Zomerfeld and Bryant advance to NCAA 2nd Round
After upsetting the #2 seed Syracuse Orange, draftee Alex Zomerfeld and the Bryant Bulldogs advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Zomerfeld and the Bulldogs will take on the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, May 17th at 12:00 PM at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium.
Lizards look to extend win streak over Machine
The Lizards are currently undefeated against the Ohio Machine, winning all four matches over the past two seasons. The Lizards look to extend their win streak to five games in Ohio in week 3.
New York officially lead MLL in number of players on Team USA
With Joe Fletcher officially eligible to join the Lizards, New York officially leads Major League Lacrosse in the number of players named to the Team USA 30-man roster with eight players. Team USA will take on Team Canada in the first game of the FIL World Championships on Thursday, July 10 at 7 PM MST. Lizards’ players representing Team USA include: Drew Adams (G), Ned Crotty (A/M), Joe Fletcher (D), Kyle Hartzell (LSM), Brian Karalunas (D), JoJo Marasco (M), Rob Pannell (A), Max Seibald (M).
The game between the Lizards and the Machine will air on the MSG Plus and ESPN 3 Networks, with face-off scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
