TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
The Islanders continue a four-game home stand tonight against the Minnesota Wild. It’s the second and final meeting between the teams in 2013-14. Earlier this season, the Islanders defeated the Wild 5-4 on Dec. 29 in Minnesota. The Isles have won the last four meetings between the teams.
TEAM NOTES:
2nd Star: The NHL named Kyle Okposo the Second Star of the Week, for the period ending March 16. Okposo recorded multi-point efforts in each of the Islanders’ three games last week, totaling seven points (one goal, six assists). That stretch marked the fourth time this season that Okposo has recorded multiple points in at least three straight games; he is the only player in the NHL to accomplish that feat this season.
NHL Debut: Johan Sundstrom played 10:28 and recorded one shot in his NHL debut Friday against San Jose. The Islanders selected Sundstrom in the second round (50th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
