It was a hard fought game but the Manhattan College Men’s Basketball team (24-7) was able to punch their ticket to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 87-68 victory over Quinnipiac University (20-12).
A game that saw every single possession, rebound and second fought for both teams showed whey they should be in the final bracket. In the end though it was the little things by Manhattan along with some big plays by Senior Guard/Forward George Beamon (Roslyn, NY) who finished the game with 25 points (23 in the second half of play) to lead all Manhattan scoring.
Junior Forward Emmy Andujar (Bronx, NY) had an outstanding night with his 21 points, driving to the hoop whenever he could while also drawing some vital fouls for added points that helped to contribute to the victory.
Also having an extremely strong low post was Senior Forward/Center Rhamel Brown (Brooklyn, NY) who did it all, get the big buckets (16 points), grabbed the big boards, while also using his size and power to draw fouls during the course of the night.
Manhattan recorded eight steals as a team as the defense continues to be the story for the team that when they play their brand of basketball is a fun one to watch.
The stage is now set for the MAAC Championship game as the Jaspers will now face Iona for the second straight year. The game will air on the ESPN 2 Network, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
