Islanders v Canucks 3/10/14

Here are some notes as the New York Islanders (24-33-9) conclude this road trip by taking on the Vancouver Canucks (29-27-10) in NHL action on Monday night.

LAST GAME:

3/7/14: NYI 3 at CGY 4
Colin McDonald, Kyle Okposo and Brock Nelson gave the Islanders a 3-1 lead, but the Calgary Flames scored three goals in a 4:12 span during the third period of a 4-3 win Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
The Islanders conclude thier four-game tour through Western Canada tonight in Van. The Isles are 2-1-3 in their last six games against Vancouver, including a 5-4 overtime loss to Canucks at the Coliseum earlier this season.
TEAM NOTES:
Road Warriors: The Isles are 11-4-1 in their last 16 road games.
Back-To-Backs: The Islanders concluded their 14th set of back-to-back games Friday in Calgary.
They are 6-7-1 on the front end, and 5-7-2 on the back-end of back-to-backs this season. The club will total 17 back-to-back sets in 2013-14
Heavy Hitter: Matt Martin leads the NHL with 286 hits. He’s led the league in hits in each of the last two seasons. In 2011-12, Martin’s 374 hits marked the highest total since hits became an official stat in 2005-06.
