Islanders v Flames 3/7/14

Here are some notes as the New York Islanders (24-32-9) continue this road trip with a stop in Calgary to take on the Flames (24-31-7) in NHL action on Friday night.

LAST GAME:

3/6/14: NYI 2 at EDM 3 (OT)
The New York Islanders could not hold a third-period lead Thursday night, falling 3-2 to the Edmonton Oilers in overtime. Frans Nielsen and Anders Lee scored to give the Islanders a 2-0 lead heading into the third period, but the Oilers scored twice in the final frame to force overtime, where Taylor Hall completed the comeback by deflecting a Sam Gagner shot past Evgeni Nabokov.
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
The Islanders continue a four-game trip through Western Canada tonight in Calgary. The Isles are 5-2-0 in the last 7 games against the Flames, but dropped the first game of the season series on February 6 on Long Island.
TEAM NOTES:
Hot Starter: Anders Lee has seven points (5g/2a) in his first seven career NHL games, including five points (4g/1a) in five games this season since being called up after the Olympic break.
Back-To-Backs: The Islanders conclude their 14th set of back-to-back games tonight. They are 6-7-1 on the front end, and 5-6-2 on the back-end of back-to-backs this season. The club will total 17 back-to-back sets in 2013-14.
The Islanders and Flames game is set to air on the MSG Plus 2 network, with face-off scheduled for 9:00 p.m.
