It was a team effort from every player on the floor as the Manhattan College Men’s Basketball team (19-6, 12-4 MAAC) defeated Niagara University (6-21, 3-13 MAAC) by a final of 90-72 in MAAC Conference action at Draddy Gymnasium on Sunday.
Manhattan had five players finish the game in double figure scoring to help lead the team to their fifth straight victory. It was all about finding the extra pass, playing the unselfish defense and playing for the guy next to you as the Jaspers led a game from the start to the finish for the fourth time.
Leading all scoring for Manhattan was Senior Guard/Forward George Beamon (Roslyn, NY/Roslyn) who had 27 points and eight rebounds, Beamon has now scored 20 + points for the fourth consecutive game.
Freshman Guard Rich Williams (Brooklyn, NY) sizzled on the floor with an impressive 14 points, making some pretty sweet moves during the course of the afternoon. Finishing up the scoring was Senior Forward/Center Rhamel Brown (Brooklyn, NY) who continues his fine play at the low-post spot for Manhattan, racking up 10 points and five rebounds.
There were impressive performances by everyone who touched the ball for Manhattan, whose unselfish play will be something to keep an eye for as the team continues their march to the MAAC Tournament held on March 6-10.
Before getting too ahead of the schedule though, the guys will have two road games on Wednesday and Friday, before returning home to Draddy Gym on Friday, February 28 as they will host Iona for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off time.
