The New York Cosmos announced on Saturday that midfielder Joseph Nane has signed a contract extension with the team. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Playing in New York and being part of the Cosmos in their reboot season was a special experience,” Nane said. “I’m looking forward to another great year with the team.”
Nane, 26, made 10 appearances (five starts) for the Cosmos during the team’s 2013 fall season championship campaign. A versatile holding midfielder, Nane also started the 2013 Aug. 3 season opener against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
“Joseph was a valuable member of our championship club last season,” head coach Giovanni Savarese said. “We’re happy to bring him back, he’s going to be an important asset for us this year.”
A native of Cameroon, Nane played college soccer at Old Dominion University before being selected in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft and making his professional debut with Toronto FC. He was then traded to the Colorado Rapids, where he played during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
