It was a sweet second victory for the ladies, who had just one day to celebrate their 72-56 victory over Canisius on Sunday. The quick turnaround did not keep the Jaspers from playing their game, as the team once again played as one to earn the victory.

Manhattan once again played a solid defensive end of basketball, though Monmouth showed glimpses of not only good defense but great rebounding. The equalizer in this one was the three-point shooting for the Jaspers, who also converted on some key free-throw shots.

From downtown the Jaspers finished the game on a 6-for-22 shooting (27.3 percent) and 17-for-24 (70.8 percent) at the charity stripe.

Ericksen finished the game the lone Jasper in double-digit scoring, while also tying a career-high in scoring with her 24 points, while also leading the team in rebounds (7) and steals (5).

Leading Manhattan from long range was Junior guard Nicole Isaacs (Fair Haven, NJ) who three treys good for nine points. Sophomore guard Katie Reese (Boonton Township, NJ) had some key moments for Manhattan, playing in 15 minutes. Reese contributed momentum building buckets for the Jaspers finishing with eight points in the game.

Chevannah Paalvast finished one rebound shy of a double-double for Monmouth.  She posted 21 points and nine rebounds, while also handing out five assists.  Jasmine Walker added 10 points and three steals, and Shira Shecht contributed nine points.

With the win, Manhattan improved to 2-0 in the MAAC for the second time in three years.  The Jaspers have also won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Manhattan wil next be in action on Friday, as they go on the road to take on Marist College  (8-4, 2-0 MAAC) at 7 p.m.  The eight-time defending conference champion Red Foxes have won 72 of their last 74 games against MAAC opponents, with both losses coming against Manhattan.
