Preview and video for St. John’s v Syracuse

It maybe a cold weekend in New York City, but it will be a hot match-up between two basketball greats at Madison Square Garden as St. John’s University (6-2) is getting ready to play longtime rival Syracuse University (9-0) on Sunday, December 15 at Madison Square Garden.

It will be the 88th meeting between these two programs. St. John’s is coming into things after a 104-58 victory over Fordham University on December  7.

The 104 points recorded marked the first time that the Red Storm reached the 100-point plateau since a 104-70 victory against Providence on Feb 15, 1999. St. John’s is the Division 1 leader in blocked-shot average, registering 10.5 rejections per game.

Syracuse is coming in as one of the 14 unbeaten teams in the Division 1 ranks. The Orange has a 50-37 advantage in the all-time series against St. John’s.  In their last home game Syracuse was able to defeat Binghamton by a final of 93-65 on December 7.

The St. John’s versus Syracuse game is set to air on the Fox Sports 1 Network, with tip-off slated for 12:00 pm (noon).
