Cornerback Antonio Cromartie:

On what it means for the team to sign Ed Reed:

“It means a lot. Just from the leadership standpoint, from a guy that’s just seen everything. His ability to be a ball-hawking safety. (He’s) another guy that can turn an interception into a touchdown and make big plays, something that we’ve been missing. It just speaks for (itself) for what he can bring to the table and what the coaching staff and everybody thought of him.”

How Reed looked in practice today:

“He looked good at practice. Looked real good, moved real good. Like I said, he’s a guy that’s been a part of this defense for a while, so he knows the defense just as good as anybody else.”

On how adding a player like Reed can help the team play more consistently:

“We as a group, we need to win more consistently, not just play more consistently. I think just adding him it helps us out on the back end. Having another guy that understands this defense, that’s been a part of this defense his whole entire career. So, it just speaks volume of what we’re trying to do on the back end from a secondary standpoint. Just adding another playmaker that can turn a big play, make a play on the back end.”

Whether he thinks Reed can be effective against Buffalo:

“I think so. He knows this defense already. It’s just a point of looking at everything and going over everything. Just trying to fill him in and understand what we’re trying to do.”

On the importance of winning two games in a row:

“Honestly, we’re not trying to worry about two in a row. We’re just trying to make sure that we put everything together as a unit and as a team and make sure that we can just go out there and play consistently. I think when we can play more consistently I think you get those wins in a row, you get what you’re looking for from everybody and it’s just a part of everybody understanding what we have to try and do.”

Safety Josh Bush:

On how Ed Reed impresses him:

“He’s always making plays and a guy like that has been doing it for so long. You know that obviously he knows something about the game that a lot of people don’t know.”

What he learned from Reed today:

“In one day? He approaches the game the right way – like a real veteran would. He came out, practiced just like Dawan Landry practices, full speed. All his credentials and everything, some guys come in, they don’t really give that effort in practice, but he gave that effort and that is something that I look at.”

Safety Ed Reed:

On how it feels to be a Jet:

“It feels good. It feels right and it is right. I’m comfortable. I’m happy to be here, great situation for me.”

How it feels to be reunited with Coach Ryan…

“Awesome. I don’t think either one of us is willing to pass this chance up. It just fits. I know the system. Rex (Ryan) is like, ‘Go ahead, let’s see what you got, go ahead and get in there.’ Dawan (Landry) got me lined up and the young guys are helping as well, so it’s just right.”

On whether he has ‘something left’:

“I don’t think I’d be here if they didn’t think that. I know what I know, I know what I feel and I know what I’ve put into my offseason workouts. I’m ready to go. You’ll see. You be the judge of that, too.”

How much playing time he expects to receive at Buffalo and going forward:

“That hasn’t really been communicated. Like I told Coach (Ryan), I’m willing to do whatever he wants me to do. I came in kind of late. I had a long day today, so it’s a matter of just recovering right now. I really have to recover. It’s been a long day. Doing all the things that I’ve been through as far as the free agency is concerned, seeing doctors, I’m working on two hours of sleep right now and went out there and practiced. But I’ll be fine. Whatever Coach (Ryan) needs, if it’s special teams or defense, he knows I’m willing to do that.”

On whether the team being in the playoff hunt factored in his signing:

“That’s a huge factor. That was a huge factor in me playing this year in general, being (on) a team that was going to contend and be in the playoffs. It’s right there. We’re focused on Buffalo right now. I know that for a fact. That’s what I’m coming here to do with the guys, just concentrate and go week-to-week. I know Rex’s ultimate goal. I don’t have to harp on that. I know what he plays this game for. I know what he coaches for. So, I’m just coming in and I’m filling in, doing my role.”

Playing in New York:

“We’ll see. Like I said, I’ll let you guys be the judge of that. My goal is to come here and give all I have. I’ve never played this game holding back. I never will, regardless of age, regardless of people saying, “He’s a step back, he’s slow or this, that, or whatever, can’t cover the fade route from the middle.” You have to get a heck of a break, as any safety, to cover a fade route. When you critique me, you have to critique everybody, but it seems that Ed Reed is held to higher standards. I’ve created that monster. I’ve been blessed to create that monster and I love it. I’m all for it. I’m glad to be here in New York. Like I said, I’ve seen you guys. I’ve known you guys for a long time. I’m more worried about hoping I can please the fans, but I know I will.”

On his message to the fans:

“I’m glad to be a Jet. I’m glad to be in green and white. I know this is a legendary organization. Mr. Woody (Johnson) has an awesome facility for the players to be ultimate professionals and do their jobs. It’s just a matter of us as a team coming together (and) being cohesive and really doing it.”
