The New York Cosmos announced on Thursday that ONE World Sports (OWS) their television and broadcast national network partner has entered into a distribution agreement with on SNY the official TV home of the Mets and Jets. The report of this agreement was originally reported in Newsday has been made official by the Cosmos.
SNY, which reaches more than 13 million homes will air all seven New York Cosmos home games for the 2013 North American Soccer League (NASL) Fall season.
The season opener against the Fort Lauderdale Strikes, which will take place on Saturday, the Cosmos on-air team will feature play-by-play announcer JP Dellacamera and Janusz Michallik as the color analyst. SNY will also showcase five episodes of ‘Cosmos Classics,’ which is a newly-minted series that looks back at home of the most memorable games in club history. ‘Cosmos Classics’ will debut on August 11 at 9 pm on SNY and feature the match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
“This is another important step in the reboot of our club,” Cosmos Chief Operating Officer Erik Stover said. “ONE World Sports has proven to be a great partner thus far and we know their production will be of the highest level. Now, adding SNY to our broadcast family helps us attain one of our main goals, which is reaching more of our fans in the tri-state area.”
“The Cosmos have a rich and colorful history among New York area sports fans,” said Gary Morgenstern,Senior Vice President of Programming for SNY. “We are excited to be partnering with the club during the rebirth of the franchise, and look forward to providing both new and long-time fans with a comprehensive package of games from the current season, as well as classic games from the 1970’s and 80’s.”
In early July the Cosmos announced a television partnership with One World Sports to carry all home games, with JP Dellacamera and Shep Messing calling the action. One World Sports has also launched a TV series highlight the Cosmos great moments of the past.
