It was all set up to be a magical night for the New York Lizards (2-4) who were set to play in the first ever outdoor game in New York City. With the guys facing the current MLL Champions the Chesapeake Bayhawks (4-2) and having the most complete roster to date, the stage was set for the team to make an impact.
Things didn’t quite go the way that everyone had hoped, as the Lizards fell to the Bayhawks with the final score being 21-8 on a rainy day at Randall’s Island Park. The night that featured the debut of recently graduated JoJo Marasco and Steve Murphy along with captain Max Seibald, who returned after recovering from a broken foot injury.
Chesapeake quickly turned the spotlight back on themselves though, as three goals in a row just began to open up the night of scoring for the defending MLL Champs. There were many flashes of brilliance from the Lizards as a beautiful feed from Rob Pannell found Tommy Palasek was one of many highlights for New York.
Greg Gurenlian had another great performance for the team in the face-off x, as well as keeper Drew Adams play in the cage, just sadly the Bayhawks offense was too much on this night.
The guys will have one last chance to make an impression on the New York City crowd, as they will play host to the Hamilton Nationals at Icahn Stadium, face-off for the final game in the Big Apple is set for 7:00 p.m.
