Here are some notes for those fans getting ready to watch the New York Knicks (51-27) who are on the road getting ready to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (24-54) in NBA action tonight.

The Knicks are getting ready to play the last of a two-game road trip against the Cavaliers, and this will be the final of three meetings between these two teams. New York won its earlier meeting versus Cleveland on December 15 at Madison Square Garden.

Leading the way in that earlier meeting versus Clevland was Amar’e Stoudemire who had 22 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Tyson Chandler posted 23 points and 10 boards in one game, and JR Smith added 16 points off the bench.

Knicks Recap

New York fell to the Chicago Bulls by a final score of 118-111 in a playoff like atmosphere on 4/11 Carmelo Anthony led the way with 36 points and 19 rebounds, which is his highest scoring total since joining the Knicks. Anthony recorded those stats in over 45 minutes of playing time and it was his 19th double-double of the season.

The end of the streak:

The New York Knicks saw their 13-game winning streak end in Chicago on the 11th. This streak was the longest of the season and the longest since the ’93-’94 season. This was also the third longest streak in franchise history.

Players of the Week:

New York has had two players named to the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Carmelo Anthony, who was the most recent member, was honored with the award for his play during the week of April 1 through April 7. Last week it was JR Smith for games played Monday, March 25-31. This is the first time in franchise history that the Knicks have had two different players win the award in consecutive weeks.

1954: New York forward Harry Gallatin is selected to the All-NBA team by sportswriters and broadcasters from different NBA cities.

1978: Bob McAdoo scores 41 points in the opening game of the playoffs, as the Knicks defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-114 in Cleveland.

The Knicks and Cavaliers game is set to air on the MSG Network, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
