Nets vs. Hawks 3/17/13

Here are some notes for those fans getting ready to watch the Brooklyn Nets (38-27) take on the Atlanta Hawks (36-29) in NBA action at the Barclays Center.

If the Nets win it would be the third consecutive victory over the Hawks this season, which would clinch the season series between the two teams. It’d also give Brooklyn a 23-13 record at the Barclays Center this season, including a 17-4 mark against the Eastern Conference.

Nets Recap:

Brook Lopez caught fire to help lead the Nets to a 108-98 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Tuesday. Lopez scored 12 of his game-high 26 points in the first quarter to help lead the offense. Andray Blatche played the entire second quarter, finishing up the game with 18 points.

All-Time Against the Hawks:

Brooklyn holds a 67-89 record against the Hawks with a 46-32 record at home. The biggest victory for the Nets happened on 1/18/13, which was a 94-89 decision. Leading the way in that game was Deron Williams who had 24 points and seven assists.

Deron the Dominant:

Deron has been dominant for the Nets since the All-Star break, improving in almost every statistical category. Williams has now scored 20-plus points in four of the last five games and 19 times overall this season.

Reggie the Rebounding Machine:

Reggie Evans is averaging 12.1 rebounds-per-game over the last 17 contests. Evans recorded a career-high 24 boards in the 32 minutes in the game against Washington on 3/8. Reggie has recorded 20-plus rebounds four times this season, which is tied for most in the league.

Road Warriors:

Brooklyn has been able to record 16 road victories thus far this season, which is the most since they won 17 in the 2006-07 season. The Nets are just four road wins shy of the franchise mark of 20; with 11 road trips still remaining the guys have a good chance of snapping that mark.

The Nets and Hawks game is slated to air on the YES Network, with tip-off scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
