Knicks vs. Wizards 2/6/13

Here are some notes for those fans watching the New York Knicks (31-15) hit the road to take on the Washington Wizards (12-35) in NBA action on Wednesday.

This will be the second of four meetings against the Washington Wizards, and the first of two games at the Verizon Center. New York is looking to extend a 10-game winning streak versus Washington, which is the longest active streak against one team.

New York was paced by Carmelo Anthony’s 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in one battle against the Wizards. Tyson Chandler posted 12 points and 10 boards in one game against Washington.

In the Knicks’ 99-85 victory against the Detroit Pistons’ on Monday, Anthony led all scorers with 27 points and seven boards. Chandler was able to tie a franchise record with his third straight game of 20-boards,

Chandler in that game became the first Knick to record three consecutive 20-rebounds game since Willis Reed accomplished the feat during the 1969-70 season.

The New York Knicks bench is leading the NBA with 44.5 points over its last 10 games. Overall, the Knicks bench is fifth in the NBA in scoring 39.4 points-per-game. J.R. Smith is second in the NBA at 16.3 points-per-game among players coming off the bench (min 10 games).

The Knicks have always played well on the 6th of February as in 2011 the franchise recorded the highest-shooting game since 2005, defeating Philadelphia 117-103 at the Garden. That day the Knicks shot .597 (46-77) shooting, it was the sharpest shooting night for New York since March 6, 2005 (47-76, 6.18).

New York and Washington is set to air on the MSG Network with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
