Nets vs. Bulls 2/1/13

Here are some notes as the Brooklyn Nets (27-19) take on the Chicago Bulls (28-17) in NBA action at the Barclays Center on Friday.

If Brooklyn was able to record a victory it would snap a two-game losing streak to Chicago and be the first win over the Bulls this season. It’d also help the Nets push the home record to 18-8 at the Barclays Center this season, including a 14-4 mark against Eastern Conference opponents.

Center Brook Lopez was selected to his first-ever All-Star Game, and thus far has had some big minutes for Brooklyn. Lopez is the only player in the NBA averaging at least 18 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game this season.

Lopez currently ranks fourth in the NBA with a 25.4 player efficiency rating. Among centers, Lopez is first in the NBA in scoring (18.6 ppg) and would be tied 16th overall if he met the statistical minimum.

It was a tale of two halves for the Nets in their third straight loss to the Heat on Wednesday. Lopez led all scorers with 13 points.

Happy Belated Birthday Jackie Robinson:

It was on January 31, 1919 that Baseball legend Jackie Robinson was born. Jerry Stackhouse, who is playing for the Nets, is the first athlete to wear the number 42 in the borough of Brooklyn since Robinson, who is his idol.

The Nets and the Bulls are slated to air on the YES Network with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
