1495 Sports is proud to bring the latest athletes in your community feature as Daniel Murphy of the New York Mets teamed up with New York Cares to provide relief for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Murphy helped the franchise distribute donated items including diapers, water, food and clothing to the Church of the Nazarene in Far Rockaway.
Those supplies went to the hundreds residents of the church, which has been providing for 2,000 people a day since the storm hit the area. New York Cares has committed themselves to helping out in the New York Area, removing debris from storm damaged homes, while bolstering education and social service programs throughout the city.
New York Cares has deployed 13,500 volunteers on over 800 projects in the Rockaways, south Brooklyn as well as all affected areas.
