1495 Sports is proud to bring this photo look at the LIU Turkey Classic. The women’s basketball tournament featured LIU Brooklyn, Colgate University, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Colgate (2-2) def. LIU Brooklyn (1-2) by a final score of 75-61 in Game One of the classic. The Blackbirds made things interesting for the Raiders in the second half, playing some stellar defense. In the end Colgate was able to play solid basketball cashing in on 24 points off turnovers. LIU Brooklyn dominated with points in the pint (48) and second chance shots (18).

Leading the way for the Blackbirds offense was guard/forward  Cleandra Roberts (Miami, Fla.), who had 14 points and nine rebounds. Senior forward Ebony Davis (St. Louis, Mo.) had six rebounds and four blocked shots, while senior center Tamika Guz (Miami, Fla.) had 10 points and four boards.

In the second game Drexel University (3-1) defeated the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2-4) 76-40. There were three players in double-digit scoring for Drexel as freshman guard/forward Rachel Pearson (West Chester, Pa.) had 19, senior guard/forward Hollie Mershon (Malvern, Pa.) tallied 14 and junior forward Abby Redick (Roanoke, Va.) finished up the scoring with 10.

The LIU Turkey Classic will wrap-up on Saturday, November 23.  It will be host LIU Brooklyn taking on UMKC in the consolation game, while Colgate and Drexel tip-off for the championship game. The Blackbirds will tip at 2, while the Dragons and Raiders will start around 4:00 p.m.
