The New York Mets have been a busy club the past couple of days. With news on two names that may affect the status of the team in 2013.
On Tuesday the team announced that Lucas Duda underwent surgery on Monday to repair a fractured right wrist. The 26-year-old had fracture happen while moving furniture last month at his Southern California apartment. The team expects for Duda to be ready though by the start of Spring Training.
Recently the team announced that they negotiated an early expiration on Jason Bay’s contract, allowing the outfielder to become an unconditional free agent.
“Jason is a great teammate, hard worker, stand-up guy, and true gentleman,” said Mets Chief Operating Officer Jeff Wilpon. “Like Jason, we had planned for the kind of production here that he enjoyed in Boston and Pittsburgh, where he established himself as one of the game’s top players. We wish Jason and his family success and happiness in the future.”
So now the questions are will the Mets sign someone to fill the spot of Bay and what will happen to Ike Davis, whose future in Queens still seems to be up in the air?
Stay tuned as you know this is only the beginning of roster moves for the Orange and Blue.
