The New York Yankees have been a very busy franchise, as the Bombers are looking for the key pieces to the puzzle in their quest for a World Series Title in 2013.

Here are some news and notes for all fans of the Yankees to enjoy:

Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano were awarded the American League Gold Glove Award, this is the fifth time that Teixeira has won the award at first; while for Cano this is the second time that the second baseman has flashed the golden leather.

This is the third time in the last four seasons that the Bombers have had at least two Gold Glove winners in the same year. The last time the Yankees had this happen was in 2009 when Teixeira and Derek Jeter won the honor.

Reliever Rafael Soriano has reportedly opted out of his deal, deciding to become a free-agent. It will be interesting to see what happens, as the future of the closer position with the Bombers is up in the air.

It is being reported that legendary closer Mariano Rivera is contemplating retirement, but there has been no official word on this as of yet. As for Soriano, it is being reported that the Yankees may offer a $13.3 qualifying offer by Friday’s deadline to bring him back to the Bronx.

The Yankees have already locked up two key players, picking-up options on Cano and Curtis Granderson. Another name expected to make an impact for the Bombers in 2013 is David Aardsma. Fans did not see much of the righty, who only appeared in one September game-experts say though that the former closer could play a big role in the bullpen plans for next season.
