New York Mets Community Relations News and Notes 8/18/12

The New York Mets have a bevy of community related events happening at Citi Field and 1495 Sports has all the info for fans to check out.

Saturday, August 18 the franchise teamed-up with the American Red Cross to hold a blood drive. Those giving the gift of life received a complimentary pair of tickets to the Monday, September 17 game between New York and Philadelphia.

It was also announced that the team will celebrate United States Air Force week on Monday, August 20 when the Mets take on the Rockies. For fans of flying demonstration, there will be a pre-game display over Citi Field with six F-16 Fighting falcons. Playing the National Anthem for the game will be the USAF Band, and Mets fans will have the opportunity to interact with the Air Force Academy’s Falcon Mascot at the Mets Plaza in front of Jackie Robinson Rotunda.

The Mets will also be teaming with the Baseball Tomorrow Fund in their annual ‘Equipment Collection Drive’ on Saturday, August 25. Fans are encouraged to bring in new or used baseball or softball equipment outside the Jackie Robinson Rotunda for the Great New York Sandlot Athletic Alliance while also enjoying the game against the Astros that day, which takes place at 1:10 p.m.
