1495 Sports Mets pre-game announcements from busy day at Citi Field 4/23/12

1495 Sports has a ton of news from a busy day at Citi Field. First the people of Citi will be holding a very special event tomorrow, along with kick-staring a great initiative for fans to enjoy.

Citi announced on Thursday that it will launch Citi Tuesdays, which will be a program designed to provide added value to Citi customers and Mets fans. The promotion, which will kick start in time for the Miami Marlins series tomorrow, will take place during all Tuesday home games.

Citi Tuesdays will offer tons of incentives for Citi customers, as those using their credit or debit card at Citi Field will be rewarded with unique experiences and exclusive access to benefits and rewards.  Citi customers will be able to get savings on tickets and merchandise, to special access to cardholders to enjoy while cheering on their favorite team.

“Citi’s relationship with the Mets extends beyond just having our name on the building, and Citi Tuesdays is an impactful way to bring savings, as well as other special privileges, to Mets fans who are Citi cardholders,” said Dermot Boden, Citi’s Chief Brand Officer. “We hope these great rewards and benefits will enhance Citi Field’s experience for our cardholders.”

There will be an information booth set up for Citi Tuesdays by the Shea Bridge every Tuesday, so fans interested in learning more information can do so.

Helping to kick-off the event on Tuesday at a very special event at the Citibank branch in Thornwood, NY from 12-1:30 p.m. will be Mets-alumni Dave Kingman and Ed Hearn.

Mets go green: The franchise announced today the expansion of green initiatives at Citi Field. Teaming-up with Action Caring Environmental Services and ARAMARK, the Mets are doing more to save the environment.  There will be Action Caring receptacles located throughout Citi Field.

Welcome to New York: The New York Mets called up outfielder Jordany Valdespin and pitcher Jeremy Hefner, but the duo has not been activated to play yet.

Playing Two: The New York Mets are set to play their first doubleheader of 2012; the last time New York and San Francisco played in a double dip was on June 6, 2006 at Shea Stadium, when the two teams split a pair of games-New York lost Game One 6-4, and took Game Two 3-2.
