The New York Yankees announced on Tuesday, that General Manager Brian Cashman have agreed to a three-year contract extension. Cashman has held the GM position since 1998, helping to build the Bombers to four World Series titles.

Cashman is in elite company in terms of executives who won four rings, as the last GM to accomplish the feat was the Dodgers’ Buzzie Bavasi in the 1950s and ‘60s. The Bombers have enjoyed success under the reign of the GM, as the team has made the playoffs in all but one of Brian’s seasons with the team.

The 44-year-old has worked his way up the ladder in the ranks of the Bombers staff. The now senior vice president of the team was once a 19-year-old intern in the Minor League and scouting department with the team in 1986.

Cashman has already secured one of the top priorities of the Yankees in the 2012 season, in locking up ace-lefty C.C. Sabathia on Monday. Knowing the history of the exec though, he will not be satisfied there, as the Bombers are also looking into Texas Rangers starter C.J. Wilson to also join the rotation next year.
