Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson were named as the recipients of the American 2011 Silver Slugger Awards at their respective positions.
The duo powered the Yankees’ lineup, raking first and second respectively for the AL’s RBI title. For Cano, this is his third Silver Slugger Award. As for, his success in the hitting department started in August 2010, when hitting coach Kevin Long revamped the speeders swing in a Texas batting cage.
Granderson now is amongst elite company in Yankees history with his amazing season, becoming the third Bombers center fielder with at least 41 homers in a single season. Only Mickie Mantle (three times) and Joe DiMaggio (once) had accomplished the feat.
Cano and Granderson are currently in Taiwan, playing in a five-game exhibition against the Chinese Taipei national team.
