New York Liberty unable to handle any ‘Moore’ of Lynx in 86-68 loss

The New York Liberty (18-14) were unable to contain rookie Maya More and the Minnesota Lynx (25-7) in a rough 86-68 loss on Sunday basketball action.

Moore dropped 19 points to lead the Lynx, as Minnesota finished the game by shooting 54 percent from the field-which includes an 8-for-18 mark from beyond the three-point ling.

Leading the Liberty offense were Plenette Pierson, who finished the game with 17 points and Nicole Powell who had 10 points.

New York was outscored by Minnesota 15-5 in the third quarter, while being held for 1-for-19 shooting from the field.

Cappie Pondexter was held to nine points as Kia Vaughn registered eight to round out the Liberty offense.

Former Liberty-center Taj McWilliams-Franklin finished with eight points in her return to the East Coast. The ‘Taj Mahal’ also finished with six boards and three assist along with a block in the game for the Lynx.

The ladies will next be in action to take on the Indiana Fever for a Friday 7:00 p.m. tip off.
