1495 Sports College Spotlight: St. Francis College Soccer

The St. Francis College men’s soccer team (7-8-1) were able to record a huge victory on Friday night, defeating the defending Northeast Conference champions Monmouth University by a final of 2-1.

This is the first time that SFC has defeated Monmouth at home since October 24, 2008. Helping to lead the Terriers offense were Senior midfielder/forward Adam Maabdi, and Junior forward Gabriel Bagot. Maabdi opened up the scoring for SFC in the 31st minue, as the tri-captain recorded his eighth goal of the season.

Monmouth came soaring back with a goal at the 35th minute, before Bagot notched the thrilling game-winner at the 83rd minute.

St. Francis will be on the road for two vital conference games against Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson University. If the Terriers win both games, they will have the opportunity to play in the Northeast Conference playoffs.
