As the NFL Season progresses the Jets are always a team that gives back to the community as they do events during the course of the Season.
Having made an impact at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey and now in New York with the latest community related effort with the Food Bank For NYC.
On what was a beautiful day in the Bronx, people gathered outside the Food Bank For NYC to gather the meal for the day.
As dance exercises happened in the background and people all hustled about to get ready for the day ahead gathering the donations of fresh food to be served in the kitchen, while also coordinating some festive fall decorations for some of the activations planned for the day.
With the progress for the decorations and activities all happening it was around 11 in the morning that Quincy Williams, Tyler Johnson, and Marcelino McCrary-Ball made an appearance to surprise those in attendance, serve them food and help the Jets make a $20,000 donation to the Food Bank For NYC.
To see sights from the day fans are encouraged to watch the video below:
The trio have been a part of some big moments for Gang Green thus far on the field, as Williams was a huge part in the team’s Week 10 victory against Cleveland by recording a sack and two tackles.
Johnson has a huge moment for the team during Week 8, when he made the 15-yard touchdown catch against the Bengals. That was the Wide Reciever first touchdown with the team.
As for McCrary-Ball the team is going to be excited to have him back from the injured reserve list just in time to play Baltimore on November 23. One of the things that is standing out for the team is the special team’s unit and Marcelino are a huge part of that.
Prior to them taking the field to face Baltimore the trio took some time to serve up some Shepherd’s Pie and talk to those that were in the Food Bank For NYC.
All of those in attendance immediately got excited to see the guys in the kitchen and serving them food as there were several that got to chat and interact with the players as the food service progressed.
The trio are no strangers to giving back to the community as they have all during the course of their career made it a point to be an Athlete in the Community.
Williams is someone very active to the community through the My Cause My Cleats Initiative, along with taking time to help support the Girls Flag Football League and being named a United Way NYC Hometown Hero.
Johnson speaking with us at the event today, shared some of his emotions when it came time for giving back to the community, his thoughts on what it takes to be a successful athlete and more:
We also got to do an interview with Sultana Ocasio is the Director of the Community Kitchen at Food Bank For New York shared these thoughts:
McCrary-Ball does a ton of community related work as he participates with youth development events, along with lending his voice to social justice and health initiatives.
This is just one of the many events that fans are going to be excited to see in the Metropolitan Area as the Month of November and the Season of Giving now starting.
The team also did a ton of community relations work when the NFL expanded to London, and truly making the Jets brand and the work that they do one that is a global effort.
As for the team’s and the play on the field in the team’s most recent games they were able to see a 27-20 victory against Cleveland before falling to New England on the road by a final of 27-14.
It’ll be on the road to Baltimore on 11/23 before returning to MetLife Stadium on 11/30 to host the Atlanta Falcons with a 1:00 p.m. start time.
