In a match where New York City FC fared well in a ton of statistical categories and were able to maintain possession for most of the match, things went to a penalty and it was Charlotte FC living to see another day with the final result being 0 (6) -0 (7).
With all of Yankee Stadium on the edge of the seat for most of the match waiting to see what would happen, it was an intense atmosphere for the Second Portion of the Best-of-3 Series.
These two teams showed what MLS Playoffs is all about, as things got physical, frustrating and with all the emotions and passion that is seen during the course of the day.
In a setting most iconic and on a beautiful day in the Bronx, the guys of NYCFC started on the best way possible with trying to get those scoring opportunities into the net.

Maxi Moralez had himself a wonderful chance early on but that went wide of the target. As the day went along another great opportunity by Raúl Gustavo was saved by Kristijan Kahlina.
With the teams unable to score going into the Half, it was in the Second Half that things got even more intense. Especially as with New York City FC attempting to score they were playing more to the supporters section.
As Coach Pascal Jansen called to the fans saying that the team would need the supporters to pull through, everyone in the Bronx responded in style as they for sure brought the energy and heart with every moment the guys rushed to the Charlotte FC cage in the Second Half.
The team got a renewed energy when Hannes Wolf, Agustín Ojeda and Julián Fernández came into the match. Though with all that had happened between the Two Halves it would turn to be a penalty to determine the winner of the day.

With the teams lining up to go one by one, it was an intense match between NYCFC goalkeeper Matt Freese and Kahlina, as each individual player stepped on up to take a chance at a shot.
There were so many brilliant moments for Freese but it was Kahlina and the Charlotte FC squad extending the playoff run for another day by winning the shootout by a final of 7-6.
Freese was able to reach a milestone in the match as he has now 300 career league saves in MLS Play. Some of the other milestones for the guys includes the fact that Justin Haak and Moralez have started in every match for the Club in the MLS this season.
With the opponent in the Semifinals now set as Philadelphia was able to defeat Chicago in the other portion of the MLS Cup Playoffs, it is going to be the guys having to go on the road and see if they have any more of the magic that they had from the first game to send them to Subaru Park to take on the current Supporters’ Shield winners.
The Third Game between NYCFC and Charlotte is to be played on November 7, with the time of the match TBD.
