Worth the Wait as Boys in Blue as guys in hunt for Playoffs

It was an incredible stage for New York City FC to be able to put themselves in a position for success. Yankee Stadium, beautiful weather and with all the faithful behind them.

With the MLS season progressing it is time to determine which of the teams are going to contend for the Championship and on Sunday afternoon the Boys in Blue had themselves a wonderful opportunity.

A chance for three points, in front of the home crowd and say that they are in a playoff spot.

It would not be an easy test though as they went up against Nashville.

With the visiting side in Third Place, things were going to be fascinating to see how Head Coach Pascal Janen would have things coordinated.

Momentum was on the side of Nashville early with a goal by Jacob Shaffelburg.

Right before the rain drops started to fall Andrés Perea getting things tied up and getting the fans and energy back into the match.

After Perea scored the announcement was made for fans and all in the Bronx to head for cover as there was a storm incoming.

Little did anyone have an awareness of what type of storm it was, as the drops of rain would turn into, as things became a downpour that included thunder and lighting.

With everyone camped in a safe location and music playing, after the wait things became worth it as the guys came through with a renewed energy and vigor in the match.

It was in the 77′ that Alonzo Martinez, with a burst of speed and all effort and energy got himself to the ball and scored the game-winning goal; thus, putting the Boys in Blue in a spot for the Playoffs.

The hope is and what the ultimate goal for the franchise is, is to be able to have playoffs in front of the faithful. Especially being able to play at Yankee Stadium.

Anytime the guys play at Yankee Stadium they have great results, and they have stats to prove it as in the last nine matches the franchise stands at 6-3-0.

A more impressive stat is the fac that they have a 3-0-1 record through nine matches at Yankee Stadium.

The test are going to be tougher and tougher for the Boys in Blue have a road match against First Place Cincinnati happening on 8/23.
