NYCFC Feeling Blue in loss to CF Montreal

After seeing a stellar performance against Cincinnati, the Boys in Blue are in a bit of a slump as they’ve lost two matches in a row.

The most recent match was on 5/10/25 at Yankee Stadium against CF Montreal and well it is one that is cause for concern for those that follow and support the squad.

Going from playing with great energy and aggression to the type of performance against a team that just picked up the first victory of 2025 MLS Season has many scracthing the head.

Fans are also encouraged to view the following video as Head Coach Pascal Jansen shares these thoughts after the match…video is compliments of NYCFC:

There was chances and opportunities but there was just a very different NYCFC squad versus the ones that folks got to see at Citi Field.

Some points of optimism include the fact that the franchise got to see the debut of Midfielder Aiden O’Neill to the squad, and it’ll be epic to see how the newest acquisition is going to help with making an impact.

Another thing of note was the fact that goalkeeper Matt Freese had a fine performance in cage, as there were some highlight reel saves spotted.

The lone goal for CF Montreal came from Prince Owusu.

There is going to be a ton of nerves and concern for the squad as they prepare for the Hudson Rivery Derby and taking on MLS Rivals the New York Red Bulls on 5/17/25.

Hope can be for those that follow the squad is when they get back to practice they can regain the form that made them successful in the earlier parts of the season.
