After two long road stretches the Brooklyn Cyclones (13-7) return back to Coney Island to take on the Wilmington Blue Rocks (7-14).
They return after winning four games in Aberdeen and then going to Jersey Shore and picking up three wins down there.
The guys were able to see an impressive performance on Thursday night as OF Eli Serrano III went 5-for-6 at the plate, scoring three runs, doubling twice and blasted a solo homer in the eighth inning.
For most of the month of April INF Estarling Mercado was able to reach base safely in 7 of 8 games, having a .464 average (13-28), with four runs scored, three extra-base hits along with a homer.
Also Impressive for the team is UTL D’Andre Smith as he is on a six-game hitting streak going 8-for-19 (.421) at the plate with five runs scored, three doubles, a homer and 3 RBIs.
As for the pitching the franchise is seeing an impressive performance by Zach Thoronton as he during the Aberdeen series was able to post a caerer-high-tying 6.0 innings of one-hit shutout ball, he was also able to sit down a career-high matching eight batters. The cool stat from the Cyclones PR department is the fact that the lefty is only 1 of 3 arms at the High-A level to toss 15.0 or more innings witout allowing an earned run.
The guys opened the 2025 MiLB Campaign against Wilmington and are going to be no strangers to the Blue Rocks, as when the season got started it was on a tremendous note for the team. Brooklyn got to see one of the most impressive performances in the team’s 15-1 victory on April 5.
Game One between Brooklyn and Wilmington is scheduled for April 29th with the start of the game scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Starting pitching for the Cyclones have not been announced yet, but the Blue Rocks have Riley Cornelio ready to go on Tuesday.
Cornelio from Honolulu was the Nationals 7th Round pick in the 2022 Draft. Thus far the starters MiLB stats include him having a 13-20 overall record to go along with a 5.09 ERA with 225 SO and a 1.58 WHIP.
