With a ton of excitement and a great crowd in attendance the St. John’s Women’s Basketball team (10-5, 0-4) fell to DePaul (8-9, 3-1) in BIG EAST Conference play in Carnesecca Arena.
The ladies of the Red Storm played very well right until the Fourth Quarter of play, that was when DePaul started to make a comeback and eventually pulled through with the victory.
Thus far BIG EAST Play is proving though for the squad as there was also a 58-52 OT loss to Providence recently.
Overall there were some impressive victories as the ladies were able to defeat Wake Forest by a final of 63-45 in December, while also defeating Penn State 72-67 to list some of the memorable moments.
Prior to the start of the game the University honored Ariana Vanderhoop for reaching the 1,000-point plateau.
Vanderhoop is brining a ton of experience with her from Monmouth and having played in over 100 college games.

There is a ton for the team to be proud of when it came time for the performance against DePaul, and that includes some incredible passing of the basketball
Also impressive was the speed that the ladies had whenever it came time for when they were able to turnover the ball and gain possession. There were many highlight reel moments where they were able to combine and get to the bucket quickly, which was particularly impressive.
As for the stats leaders the Red Storm were able to see team highs from Ber’Nyah Mayo with her 15 points, as she was able to go 50% from the floor; and a 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Lashae Dwyer had herself an impressive night with 14 points and five steals. Kylie Lavelle had herself a 6-for 10 night from field goal range along with 14 points as well, as well as the ladies seeing the debut of Janeya Grant.
The ladies are going to next be on the road against Xavier before returning back to Carnesecca Arena to take on #7 UConn on January 15 at 7:00 p.m. That game is going to be aired on the SNY network.
