The Amazin’ Mets Foundation announced their over $430,000 donation to benefit Juniper Valley Park, a community park in Queens, to refurbish Field #1. The foundation, led by Alex Cohen, and helps to fund community projects, especially ones that support and inspire youth to get involved with athletics.
The field renovation includes new irrigation and drainage systems, a full infield renovation, as well as new fencing and concrete work. NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue commented, ““These refurbished baseball and softball fields at Flushing Meadows Corona Park and Juniper Valley Park provide the perfect place for our young Queens athletes to pitch, slide, bat, and root each other on while playing the sport they love.”
Completed in October, Field #1 is now open for community recreation and athletics. The Amazin’ Mets Foundation has funded over $13 million in grants since its inception in 2021, emphasizing youth baseball and softball initiatives.
The funding for Juniper Valley Park follows the organization’s grant for the renovations of Fields #10 and #11 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in June. As the Foundation continues to develop local athletics initiatives, President Alex Cohen said, “This is about more than updating infrastructure – it’s about supporting our neighbors and creating opportunities to play and grow.”
