Cyclones Rolling along in Six-Game Homestand against Jersey Shore

The Brooklyn Cyclones (23-27) after having a successful road trip in Wilmington is currently in the middle of a six-game homestand against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (26-24) in Coney Island.

In the team’s return to Coney Island the guys are in the middle of a slump, as Jersey Shore has momentum winning the first game by the score of 10-9, the second game by the final of 7-0 and the most recent game by a final of 10-1.

The game on Thursday night is one that is going to be for the record books, as all nine of the BlueClaws starts reached base safely at least once, the Cyclones fared well as they were able to have eight of their starters faring well as well.

Leading the way for Brooklyn is Outfielder Nick Morabito as he recorded two hits and an RBI during the course of the night. Kellum Clark, Junior Tilien, and Kevin Villavicencio all were able to get a hit.

Morabito is going to be a Cyclone to watch for as the rest of the Cyclones season progresses, as he ranks Ninth in MiLB in stolen bases (52). In the interesting stats from the Cyclones PR department Nick is one of five players in MiLB with 50 or more runs scored, walks and stolen bases. Another impressive number is the fact that Nick is the only one of the five to hold a batting average over .300 with two stolen bases.

As for the Cyclones pitching staff, they were able to find stellar performances from the bullpen starting with Jawlime Ramirez as he was able to sit down one batter, Henry Henry struck out three batters in 2.0 Innings Pitched and Gregori Louis struck out two batters in 2.0 Innings pitched.

The Cyclones are hoping to rebound and looking to do so on the mound is going to be Jonah Tong (4-4, 3.70 ERA) as he takes on Luke Russo (2-1, 4.26 ERA). Tong is going to be a sensation and for sure someone that is going to make a quick rise while within the Mets farm system.

Here are some numbers when it comes time for Jonah as he leads the circuit and all high-A pitchers in strikeouts (98), also the fact that he has those 98 K’s rank him 9th.
