It was in the Second Half of play that the New York Red Bulls (7-5-3) were able to find a surge of energy and a scoring touch, as the guys were able to defeat Charlotte FC in MLS Action at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday.
Charlotte put in a very impressive performance, but it was a tremendous second half performance where the team were finding each other in terms of crisp passing and in addition found the scoring form that they needed for the huge three points.
After much back and forth between the two squads it was in the second half of play, after a bit of a delay due to a rumbling thunder and lightning show in Harrison, New Jersey that the guys started to put on a show in terms of scoring goals.
It was in the 74′ that the guys drew a penalty and after much discussion it was team captain Emil Forsberg stepping up and finding the back of the cage with a right footed shot from the central position.
Forsberg was able to have his first-career multi-goal MLS match, and thus far the captain has four career goals at Red bull Arena.
Thanks to his play Emil was named to the MLS Team of Matchweek on May 30, 2024.
From there much like the weather in the New Jersey area the guys scoring ability opened up as Forsberg struck again at the 76′ this time with an assist by Daniel Edelman.
The guys wrapped up the night on a tremendous scoring tough by Andres Reyes in the 83′ on an assist by John Tolkin.
For Reyes the goal is the first of the MLS Season and the fifth in his career.
The night was a memorable one in more ways than one as it was Bark Night at Red Bull Arena. To be able to see all the guys and gals in attendance with their furry friends brought smiles to many faces as the franchise brought a cool feature of making AI Characters of both the fans and the fur babies during the course of the match.
A nice touch by the franchise is the fact that they also donated money to a shelter in the Newark area so that way more dogs and cats are able to find a fur ever home.
Also, a great moment in the night is the fact that the Red Bulls were able to score three-plus goals in consecutive home matches for the first time since 2022.
So far the guys are playing great while in front of the fans at Red Bull Arena as thus far they are on a ning game winning streak, and that marks the fourth-longest in franchise history.
Looking to keep the home winning streak going the Red Bulls luckily enough get to stay in the New York/New Jersey area to host Orlando City SC for the team’s annual Pride Night with the start of the action scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
