Taking fans in Harrison, New Jersey back to the days of Scrunchies and plaid skirts the New York Red Bulls (4-4-2) defeated the New England Revolution (4-2-3-1) in MLS action on Saturday.
With the birth of the team coming in 1994 as the MetroStars there were some memorable moments for the team including seeing the likes of 1994 FIFA World Cup star Tony Meola along with A.C. Milan midfielder Roberto Donadoni on the roster.
It was around that time the rivalry between the MetroStars and the Revolution began and the many epic clashes between the two squads took place.
With performances by 90s Icons C + C Music Factory Featuring Freedom Williams and Sybil and activations including an AI generated look at the fans in attendance as 90s Pop Stars fans in Red Bull Arena brought the energy and enthusiasm to the squad looking to rebound from a string of a three draw and a most recent loss to Inter Miami.

Brining the attack right from the start Dylan Nealis with the first shot of the night around the 4′ from there the Red Bulls offense was rewarded quickly with a goal from Lewis Morgan at the 6′ with an assist by Sean Nealis.
The goal for Morgan was his sixth goal of the season at Red Bull Arena, which is tied for the most through the club’s first five matches at home.

When it comes time for the assist Nealis the defender was able to record his sixth career MLS assist and his first of the season.
In addition, Sean had himself a milestone moment in making his 118th career MLS appearance for the Red Bulls, which tied Kemar Lawrence for the eighth-most MLS appearances by a defender in franchise history.
From there the action was intense as both sides featured some exciting play throughout the match.
New England staying tenacious were able to tie up the night on a goal from Carles Gil at the 24′ on an assist by Tomás Chancalay.
The Revolution started to gain confidence and momentum with two attempts by Chancalay and Esmir Bajraktarevic.
After a VAR review, one of two on the night the Red Bulls found the second goal from Emil Forsberg on the penalty kick. Forsberg did not hesitate as he buried a right footed shot at the 43′.
For Forsberg the tally was his fourth MLS goal of the season, which is tied for the fifth-most goals scored by a midfielder this season. Thus far the adjustment to playing in the U.S. is looking to be a great one for Emil as he has six goal contributions in his last eight MLS matches.
There was a ton of action by both sides as they headed into the half with the Red Bulls leading by a score of 2-1.
Once the team got back to the pitch for the rest of the night it was once again all action as the Revolution got the scoring opportunity going with a chance by Gil in the 56′.
Morgan tried to increase the lead for the guys with a right footed attempt in the 60′ mark and then had a left footed shot at the 75′.
Making an immediate impact in the match is Forward Elias Manoel as he came into the match at the 69′ as a sub, Manoel cashed in on a scoring opportunity at the 84′ for the 3-1 lead.
The goal for Manoel is the second MLS goal of the season and the seventh of his MLS career.
New England was able to cut into the lead with a goal by Giacomo Vrioni in the 90′. A quick response from Cameron Harper in the 90 + 3′ gave the franchise a 4-2 lead and from there the defense stood tall for some huge three points.
In the net Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel recorded four saves in tonight’s match and has now made 34 career saves against New England in his career, which is his most against a single MLS club.
Another impressive stat for Coronel is the fact that he was able to record his fifth career win against New England, which is tied for the most he has against a single MLS opponent.
Bringing more vertical style the Red Bulls looked great once again as they were creating a ton of wonderful opportunities for each other and made the possessions that they have count which were all things that were going to help them in building momentum and confidence to what is going to be the toughest test to date.
The next test for the Red Bulls are going to be the Darby Dates as they head to Washington D.C. to take on D.C. United and then to Citi Field for a match against New York City FC on 5/18.
