The ladies of the Washington Spirit are looking to wipe the blues that they have as they take to the road and go up against the Chicago Red Stars in NWSL action on Wednesday, May 1.
When it comes time for going up against Chicago the matches have always been tough, as the two teams play in physical and intense matches. Thus far the Red Stars lost only one of the side’s eight meetings with the Spirit since the start of the 2021 Season with the record of 3W and 4D.
Thus far though the 2024 Washington Spirit are looking great though as they are having a record-setting pace in terms of putting together wins on the field. In terms of scoring the ladies recorded 11 on the season and that is the most through six matches in the team’s history.
In addition, the Spirit are looking to score multiple goals in each of the last five matches and that is the longest streak in Spirit history.
Heading into the match on Wednesday both franchises are looking for victories as both the Spirit and Red Stars faced tough losses.
The Spirit showing a ton of heart and resilience in the team’s 3-2 loss to Orlando, were able to gain goal scoring by Ouleye Sarr and Ashley Hatch.
As for the Red Stars they also faced a tough loss to the Portland Thorns by a final of 2-0. Chicago looked great in terms of opportunities as in terms of stats they were able to outshoot the Thorns and creating quality opportunities.
It is going to be fascinating to see if being on the road can revitalize the ladies Spirit as the team looks to wipe the blues away in the road match against the Chicago Red Stars. The action between the two teams is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
