There are going to be a ton of new faces in Washington D.C. when the Washington Mystics hit the court for the first game of the 2024 WNBA Season, but the good news for the squad is that the vision and development of the squad as a whole thanks to the GM Mike Thibault and Eric Thibault.
It is going to be way more three-point shooting opportunities for the team, as looking to lead in the ball distribution in her second year is Brittney Sykes.
One of the impactful things that Sykes said during the teams 2024 Media Day is her mindset going into being the point guard on the team. ‘Slim’ lovingly known by the rest of the team and those in the Washington D.C. area talked about bringing herself and about some of her past experiences and how she is learning from them and what she hopes to do differently with heading into a new role for the franchise.
There were a ton of great stories coming from the Mystics Media Day, including the story of Myisha Hines-Allen telling the news to Julie Vanloo the fact that the Belgium National team player got signed by the franchise.
Mystics fans are encouraged to check the following video to see more of the team and the stories that were told from the Media Day held in Washington D.C. on 4/29/24….video is compliments of the Washington Mystics:
Another feel good story came from Karlie Samuelson as she reflected on being someone that stayed with the dream of being in the WNBA and how to not let things like cuts or any other roadblocks be of a discouragement for these that are hoping to eventually get into the W.
Overall, the energy surrounding the team along with the hope and optimism are at a all-time high as the team currently prepares for the team’s first preseason game, which is approaching quickly as the team takes on the Atlanta Dream on May 4 with the start of the game scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
