In what was a thriller at the Prudential Center Mississippi State Defeated Rutgers in the Gotham Classic by a final score of 70-60.
Thus far both teams are looking great Rutgers has a 7-4 record some of the memorable moments thus far are wins against Boston University on November 10, with the final score being 69-45. The Scarlet Knights also defeated Georgetown during the Gavitt Games on November 15 then also got a victory over Seton Hall on December 9 with the final score being 70-63.
As for the Bulldogs of Mississippi State they hold a 10-2 record with some of the memorable moments thus far are victories against Northwestern (66-57) on November 19, a victory against Tulane on November 9 (106-76) that all led to the clash against Rutgers on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs are known for defense, and they showed just that as they were able to keep the Scarlet Knights from gaining momentum in the Second Half of play.
Rutgers playing behind a Prudential Center filled with fans of the Scarlet Knights featured some thrilling moments, including a three-pointer by Aundre Hyatt to get Rutgers and Mississippi State tied at 29 heading into the Half.

Mississippi State got the momentum and didn’t look back in the Second Half as the Bulldogs used physical play along with wonderful passing and shooting to get them the victory.
Leading the way in scoring for Rutgers is Hyatt as he finished the afternoon with 18 points and six rebounds.

As for Mississippi State they were led by Cameron Matthews with his 18 points and 11 rebounds, Jimmy Bell Jr. had himself a monster performance with 17 points and 18 rebounds, Dashawn Davis tallied 13 points while Shakeel Moore finished the scoring with 10 points.

With the victory the Bulldogs were able to improve to a 6-0 record in neutral site games.
As for the Gotham Classic, there have been some marquee matchups in the history of the Classic as names such as Syracuse, Temple, Notre Dame, Ohio State, St. John’s and many more were featured.
Some of the more memorable moments in the history of the Gotham Classic including in 2014 when T.J. Cline posted a team high of 13 points (56 FG), 5 rebounds, and three assists in leading the Richmond Spiders to a 65-63 victory against Pepperdine.
The Gazelle Group is going to next host the Holiday Face-Off on December 28-29 in Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
As for Rutgers University they take on Stonehill on December 30 at Jersey Mike’s Arena in Piscataway, New Jerey. As for Mississippi State they take on Bethune-Cookman on December 31 at Humphrey Coliseum.
