The New York Jets (3-3) have improved big time in the past three weeks. They were able to take the current world Champs Kansas City to their limits during Week 4, and then had back-to-back game-winning thrillers over the Denver Broncos and the Philadelphia Eagles.
As the team is currently in the middle of a Bye Week, they are evaluating how they can improve and what they can do to keep the momentum going.
The ironic thing is for most of Jets Nation, this team was in a similar situation during the 2022 season, where during the Bye Week the guys were looking great. Then it was sometime after that everything went downhill.
This year’s squad though feels different, especially there are a ton of feel-good stories surrounding the 2023 Jets.
One of the great stories coming from the team’s press conference on 10/16 is the play of Linebacker Quincy Williams. Williams added by the Jets during September 1, 2021, is showing the world the type of elite level skills, he had after being put on waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Murray State Graduate thus far has 41 solo tackles, 2 sacks thus far during the 2023 Season and during the game against the Eagles combined for 13 tackles.
Williams joins Mosley in one of the best linebacker tandems in the NFL and they are just two of the players to watch for during the season.
To learn more about William’s story and to hear from Head Coach Robert Saleh, and Tyler Conklin fans are encouraged to check out the video below…compliments of the New York Jets
In terms of the other team leaders thus far Quarterback Zach Wilson has some impressive numbers in terms of stats including leading the team in passing yards with 1,097. Continuing to highlight the offensive leaders Running Back Breece Hall leads in rushing yards with 426. At the Wide Receiver spot Garrett Wilson leads the way in receiving yards with 369.
As for the defense, Williams leads the way with his 60 tackles.
With more and more confidence building amongst the team, they were able to get some great news on Wednesday as Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, as he is making his way back to practicing after sustaining an Achillies Tendon injury.
It is still early in the recovery of Rodgers but seeing the future HOF back and practicing is a great sign.
The next game for Gang Green is going to be one that all of New York is going to be watching, as the team takes on the New York Giants on Sunday 10/29.
This intra-city rivalry is going to be renewed and played between two teams that have shed a home stadium since 1984.
To go back in time the first regular season meeting between the two teams played in 1970, as the Giants beat the Jets 22-10 at Shea Stadium.
Fast forward to the latest meeting when the Jets beat the Giants by the score of 34-27
Thus far Big Blue hold a 1-5 record and have come bright spots as running back Saquon Barkley became the seventh player with 1,000 carries.
There is going to be a ton of excitement and pride on the line as the New York Jets take on the New York Giants in NFL action on Week 8 on 10/29/23 at MetLife Stadium. Start time between the two NFL franchises takes place at 1:00 p.m. with fans wanting to catch the action on the CBS Network.
