As both the Washington Spirit and the OL Reign got to play in front of 34,130 fans in Seattle, it was a memorable night for both franchises as they honored Soccer Icon Megan Rapinoe in her final regular season match of the career.
In a night full of emotions and wonderful quality soccer, at the end it was both sides winding up with a 0-0 Draw.
Starting off the action, both the Washington Spirit and OL Reign attempted the best shots on net and weren’t able to score a goal. In what is an amazing stat there were no shots on target. At the half it was
the OL Reign that controlled over 60% of possession, while also leading in other statistical categories.
Then in the second half, it was the Spirit starting to have more chances as Ashley Sanchez got the action going with a beautiful connection with Ashley Hatch for a strike inside the box.
OL Reign responded quickly as Rapinoe delivered a laser shot that was saved by Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Kingsbury.
Even though both teams had quality chances at the end of it all, they wound up with a point each and a0-0 draw.

Some of the statistical leaders for the Spirit included Trinity Rodman as she tallied eight shots in the match. Also, Kingsbury was able to be in the cage for her 30th career clean sheet, as she became the sixth player in NWSL history to reach this milestone.
The ladies are going to next be in action on Sunday, October 15, as they host the North Carolina Courage at Audi Field. That day is going to be the NWSL Decision Day, as every team plays, and the stakes are high as there is a chance at the 2023 NWSL Playoffs to be earned on that day.
Fans are encouraged to head on over to Audi Field, as the Spirit is going to hold Fan Appreciation Night, featuring fun and festivities prior to the game.
