Barclays Center Rocking with latest Liberty victory over Aces

The Barclays Center was rocking on Monday night, as the New York Liberty took on the Las Vegas Aces, with the Liberty getting the 94-85 victory in the final game of the sold-out matchup. with 11,615 in Brooklyn as the ladies showed off some of their best performances.

There were a ton of celebrities and special guest in attendance including Fran Lebowitz ( author / public speaker) , Mayia The Don (rapper), Omari Harwick (Actor) and H.E.R. (recording artist ). 

Liberty fans were in for a treat at the “Futures Night “ station, there was Fini Pizza serving pizza in a custom Liberty design box and truck. 

 In addition, spotted in the 40/40 club area Coinbase set up numerous installations for fans to get some free gifts and swags. Each fan also recieved a bucket hat and poster.

Both teams had a lot of missed shots at the start of the game and took them both some time to find their  rhythm.

One of the leaders in the team’s victory against the Aces is Sabrina Ionescu, as she became the first WNBA player to score 600 rebounds and 600 assists. 

In the first half of the game, Ionescu scored 12 points finishing with a game-high 25 points on 57.1% (8-14) shooting from the field, including 50% (5-10) from deep, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Betnijah Laney with her stellar defensive performances, is being talked about for the Defensive Player Of The Year, scored 17 points on 50% from the field, along with six rebounds, and three assists.

In Monday night’s game Breanna Stewart recorded her 300th career steal and has been able to eclipse the single-season franchise rebounding record, breaking the previous record of 321 with her eighth rebound at the 1:26 mark of third.

In addition, Stewie added 20 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and two blocks, marking her 17th double-double of the season.

“After our slow start we really picked it up defensively we were making things hard for them,” said Courtney Vandersloot after the game.

Courtney Vandersloot finished with 17 points on 58.3% (7-12) shooting from the floor, 10 assists, and five rebounds. This is Vandersloot’s sixth double-double of the season and her 31st career game with at least 15 points and 10 assists – the most in WNBA history.

Aces A’ja Wilson added 23 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks. Jackie Young finished with 24 points, five assists, and four rebounds. 

“Our guards we always take any rebound and they come up and the right time even when we are battling”, said Wilson.

With five games left for the Liberty and four games left for the Aces until the playoffs, these are the two teams that are fighting for the number one spot for the number one playoff seed. The number one team would have home court advantage. 

The New York Liberty look to get themselves closer to gaining homecourt advantage and are going to play the Connecticut Sun on Friday night at the Barclays center on September 1 at 8 p.m. Fans can catch the game on ION.
