Tough Week 2 Test as New York Jets Fall to Tampa Bay, 13-6

It was a tough Week 2 test for the New York Jets as they took on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as New York took a loss in the preseason game by a final of 13-6.

Zach Wilson the backup for Aaron Rodgers, led the way for the Jets. It is going to be interesting to see what happens with the Quarterback position, as Wilson was re-signed to the Jets this season with a two-year contract failed to gain a touchdown on Saturdays night’s game. Although he made significant strides on the field.

Rodgers has taken an interest in Wilson when it comes to game of football. Believing that they can play a few years together and helping Wilson to dominate the NFL once he retires.  Rodgers has not played in the preseason since 2018 but will make his appearance on the field in week five of the preseason game against the New York Giants.

“They did a good job dropping everyone out. I think they dropped eight on that one. Where I was trying to go with the ball, they were kind of sitting underneath it. I kind of told myself in this game if they’re going to drop some guys, I’ve got to get down into my outlets and try to get out of the pocket. It was also a goal, Aaron (Rodgers) kind of mentioned the first game I should try to use my feet a little bit. We’ve been in camp and throwing it quite a bit and trying to stay in the pocket and get rid of it, but part of the game is extended plays after, too, so that was part of it as well. I also wanted to get out and work on some of that stuff too,” said Zach Wilson.

The New York Jets always do a great job in the community, continued their community related efforts as Jets Community hosted their annual Play Football Night during Saturday nights game at MetLife Stadium.

The Play Football Night presented by the Jets Community honored three high school girls school from Plainview-Old Bethpage High School, Ridgewood HS and Susan E. Wagner championship rings.

Jets community and Gatorade also honored the Coaches of the week and Coaches of the Year. Harrison High School versus Wayne High School and Longwood High School versus Valley Stream girls flag football teams faced off in a scrimmage during the halftime game.

Brooklyn New York Erasmus High School was recognized by the Jets for their 7-7 Championship. Also St. Joseph Regional as the lineman challenge from the NY Jets High School 11-0 tournament. There was a total of 3,000 tickets were donated to local youth for Saturday’s game and Dunkin Donuts provided tickets to participants at the Long Island Football Campus.

New York Jets hosted the Dream Day Jets training camp on Wednesday August 16, as Ten-year-old Lamont Smithson had the opportunity to meet some of his favorite players and enjoyed a shopping spree courtesy of the NY Jets and SNY. Smithson was injured during a house fire in December of 2022 where his family’s home was burned down. He spent months in Staten Island University burn unit. Smithson is still receiving treatment at this time.

Up next for the Jets is going to be a Week 3 test against the New York Giants on Saturday, August 26. With the start of the action scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
